Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, recently hosted nine second-year students from Morimura Gakuen Junior High School (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture; the “School”) who visited the company as a part of their second-year career learning program.
To provide students with career education and help them develop social skills, the School visits companies and organizations in the local community and where students’ parents work during summer vacation. “K” LINE’s training center located in Machida City, Tokyo is adjacent to Yokohama City’s Midori-ku, where the School is located. It endorsed this program and cooperated in this learning opportunity.
The focus of this visit was to provide students with an opportunity to experience maritime professions. At the training center in Machida, after a briefing about deck officers and engineers, the students used a ship-handling simulator to experience navigating a ship in Tokyo Bay, received a demonstration of a turbine engine simulator, and disassembled training replicas of equipment.
At the training center, the students deepened their understanding of the unique nature, social mission, and actual job responsibilities of seafarers working in professions they may not often encounter in their daily lives.
We will continue to contribute to the local community through company tours.
